What’s the difference between Baby Blues Syndrome and Postpartum Depression?
The difference lies both in frequency, intensity, and the duration of on going symptoms as above.
In Postpartum Depression, you will feel the symptoms are more frequent, more intense, and longer.
How to distinguish? Actually, the way is easy. One is to consider the mother’s sleep pattern. If when there is someone else look after the baby, the mother can sleep, then the mother is likely to suffer only Baby Blues Syndrome (BBS). However, if the mother is very difficult to sleep even though the baby is maintained by someone, then maybe the level of depression was include in the Postpartum Depression(PPD)
Some symptoms of Postpartum Depression:
1. Irritable
2. Confused
3. Easily panic
4. Feel Hopeless
5. Changes in eating and sleeping patterns
6. There are fears could harm her baby
7. There is an afraid cannot proprly take care the baby well
8. The feeling that cannot be a good mother
PPD can last up to 1 year after the birth of a baby
